It’s time to get into gear! Join us as we kick off the Autumn Trails Classic 2010 Bike MS ride. Enjoy live music and great food and drinks with Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer as we begin this year’s journey together.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is issuing a challenge to Wichita cyclists: Bike for a world free of multiple sclerosis. The Wichita-area Autumn Trails Classic Ride is Sept. 11-12, 2010 when cyclists will ride from Derby to Dexter to raise funds and awareness. To get the community in gear for this event, a kick off party will be held 6 – 8 p.m. on June 22, at Rock Island Live in Old Town, 101 N. Rock Island.

“We are looking forward to increasing the number of riders that we have for this event,” said National MS Society Development Manager Jason Dilts. “This event is a great opportunity for cyclists to find out more about the ride and also for anyone with an interest in helping stop MS to learn how they can get involved.”

Attendees will enjoy an evening of live music and great food and drinks. They will also have a chance to meet Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer, who will keynote the event. “We’re honored to have Mayor’s support in our mission,” Dilts said. “

More than just a fundraising event, Bike MS is a mission for an entire community. The money raised supports local programs and services and research on a national level. The event creates a challenging, enjoyable ride for cyclists and a hope-filled experience for everyone affected by MS. The MS Society hopes to create a greater awareness of multiple sclerosis in the public at large.

The Autumn Trails Classic Ride includes a 50, 80 and 100 mile route, complete with rest stops, snacks and encouragement from volunteers. Anyone who registers at the kick off party can take advantage of a special $15 registration deal.

We are excited about the potential that we have to grow. We need everyone in the community invested and involved. Please invite your friends, family, and coworkers to join the movement to bike for a world free of MS.
