This Saturday, June 19th, Emery is headlining a show at The Oz Café, which includes the likes of Queens Club, Sent By Ravens, Kiros, and talented local artists The Lost Colors. If you’re a fan of any of these bands you know better than to miss it. As for the rest of you, maybe I’ve got a little more convincing to do.
If there is one thing South Carolina natives Emery are good at, it’s making quality music. If there is a second thing, it’s putting on one hell of a live show. Having attended over a dozen Emery shows since their surge to popularity in 2004, with their first album, The Weaks End, I feel qualified to suggest that theirs is a must-see-performance. But I don’t doubt that you may have seen them yourself at one place or another, as they seem to have seldom taken a break from their constant cross-country tours.
I’d also like to emphasize the talent of Wichita natives The Lost Colors. They’ve played with a number of nationally and internationally renowned bands, as well as a plethora of local and regional bands. There is an obvious comparison to make between The Lost Colors and Paramore, but it goes beyond strong-lunged female vocalists. The energy and passion pour into the forefront, and the melodies seem committed to being stuck in your head for days, whether you know the lyrics or not. But comparisons only take away from what this band has to offer, so you’ll just have to check them out for yourself.
But just in case Emery and talented locals The Lost Colors aren’t enough to get you off of your couch on Saturday night, The Oz Café also offers up more quality music from Queens Club, Sent By Ravens, and Kiros, in what promises to be one of the most entertaining live shows our city sees all year.
But make sure you get there early, cause this opening act is worth showing up at 6:00pm to see. I’ll even slap a guarantee on it, if that’s what it takes to get you to support some quality local music.
If you’re down with supporting local artists, The Lost Colors have a three song EP that you can pick up for a few bucks while you’re at the show. The EP is also available on iTunes and Amazon.
The Oz Café is located at: 2222 E. Douglas Ave.
