About the School
Over the past 90 years, The Mary R. Koch School of Visual Arts has made art education
accessible to the citizens of Wichita and the surrounding communities. Since its founding by a
Small group of artistic pioneers in 1920, the school has seen thousands of students come through its doors, including nationally known artists Tom Otterness and David Salle.
In keeping with the vision of its founders, The Mary R. Koch School of Visual Arts continues to provide quality art instruction at a minimal cost. Today, the school has grown into a regionally recognized art education facility with 30 faculty who teach an average of 50 classes each semester to adults, teens, and children in a wide array of subjects. The school is also home to The Creative Child Center Preschool, one of the few arts-based preschools in the nation.
